Job Description:

? Prepares accurate and complete claims/statements for assigned claims using the Electronic Billing System.? Monitors insurance denials, payments and follow-up using professional judgement to determine the appropriate course of action.? Identifies and corrects claims prior to submission. Corrections will be made in the billing system and in documentation to ensure the claims meet payor standards.? Identifies and communicates reimbursement and denial issues with team members, management, clinicians and Authorization Associates.? Reviews and acts upon insurance denials, underpayment and claim rejections. In addition, and communicates and takes appropriate action regarding recurring issues and substantial dollar amounts in adjustments and denied claims.? Develops and maintains knowledge of insurance laws and regulations by monitoring websites to maintain regulatory compliance.? Appeals claims that are not processed as expected based on department policy.? Performs collections on aging as assigned.? Contacts patients and insurance companies regarding unpaid balances as required. Informs patients of payment plans as necessary; sends unpaid claims to collections as necessary.? Attends Company meetings as required.? Attends training classes as directed; completes assigned training courses as directed.? Behaves in a manner consistent with Professional's mission, vision, and values.? Maintains working knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, Risk Management and Compliance regulations.? Practices confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance with Company policies all applicable laws and regulations. Qualifications:? At least 5 years of medical collections experience required.? Excellent communications (oral and written) are required.? Ability manage a large workload is required.? In depth knowledge of medical billing procedures with knowledge of insurance contracts including Medicare regulations, private healthcare insurance carriers, managed care providers and workers' compensation.? Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations is required.? Knowledge of EMR and electronic billing systems is required.? Must be flexible; able to accommodate the changing needs of the Company and the department.? Must be willing to work nights and/or weekends as job duties require.? Must be customer service-oriented and have excellent interpersonal skills.? Collaborates with a variety of individuals by establishing and maintaining constructive relationships.? Must have excellent organizational and time management skills; must ensure collections are submitted and/or resubmitted in a timely fashion.?
