$180,761SUMMARYThe Senior Director of Commercial has a high level
of authority for decision-making, staffing, and budget for their
functional area of responsibility, subject to approval regarding
significant business and policy issues by Senior Management. Works
within clearly defined policies, principles, and specific
objectives in consultation with departmental management. Provides
policy and procedural recommendations with final approval from
Senior Management.The Senior Commercial Director function links the
Agency's operational requirements with critical departmental
functions such as finance, legal, and risk. By supporting Project
Management and working closely with Business Unit teams on
significant schemes, the contractual mechanisms for change control,
invoicing, and financial reporting have been proactively managed
and suitably addressed.ResponsibilitiesDuties include (but are not
limited to):
- Provides commercial support to project management to ensure
that the project is commercially focused from the outset and
provides regular ongoing support during project delivery.
- Previous contract experience in commercial management for
large-value projects/programs.
- A good understanding of risk management procedures and
processes.
- Demonstrates commercial acumen, strong business analysis
skills, and the ability to interpret and understand complex
financial systems and reports.
- Basic knowledge of commercial law and specific contract law
concerning the built environment; experience in various contract
forms such as Design-Build, P3, Progressive DB, and Traditional
Design-Bid-Build.
- Good interpersonal skills, including relationship building and
communication at all levels and working collaboratively across the
organization, listening to other points of view while still being
persuasive.Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Quantity
Surveying, Engineering, Architecture, Economics, Construction or
Project Management, Business Administration, Transportation, or a
related field.MBA/Masters in Law (LLM)/Contract Management
preferred.Must have a minimum of twelve (12) years of related
experience.Must have a minimum of six (6) years in a management or
supervisory role and/or project/commercial manager role in a large,
multi-faceted organization.Licensed Professional Engineer or
Registered Architect desirable.PMI-PBA Certifications are
preferred.Significant experience in project management for major
construction projects or project controls with highly complex
systems preferred.Substantial experience leading and managing
contractors, subcontractors, or vendors.Proven ability to
collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders and drive
outcomes.Excellent communication and interpersonal
skills.Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work
collaboratively with stakeholders at all internal organizational
levels.Demonstrated ability to work in a high-profile,
high-pressure environment effectively.Must have focus and ability
to deliver on results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous
improvement.Must be a proven leader as a change agent and
creative/innovative thinker with the ability to align business
goals with solutions to drive process improvements.Must possess
excellent team-building, listening, problem-solving, and
