The Opportunity
This opportunity to join the Department of Pediatrics at the
Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at the rank of
Instructor is an exciting one. Columbia University Irving Medical
Center, one of the nation's foremost academic health science
center's working together with one of the nation's premier health
systems, New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
Key Responsibilites
The Department of Pediatrics at Columbia University Medical Center
is seeking board-certified or board-eligible (BC/BE) Pediatricians,
Pediatric Intensivists, Pediatric Cardiologists, and Pediatric
Cardiac Intensivists for full-time faculty positions as Pediatric
Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) Hospitalists. These positions
are at the Instructor level, with appointments to Columbia
University and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, effective July 1,
2025.
The successful candidates will join a highly dedicated team
providing 24/7 coverage of the PCICU at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan
Stanley Children's Hospital and Columbia Irving Medical Center,
home to one of the premier pediatric cardiac programs in New York
and the nation. We deliver the highest-quality care to infants,
children, and adolescents with complex congenital heart disease,
heart failure, and pulmonary hypertension.
Key highlights of the pediatric cardiac program at NYP Morgan
Stanley Children's Hospital include:
Over 500 bypass cases annually, performed by four congenital
cardiothoracic surgeons.
More than 1,000 cardiac catheterizations per year.
One of the largest Pediatric Heart Failure/Transplant programs in
the country.
A world-renowned Pulmonary Hypertension Center.
Expertise in electrophysiology and a variety of non-invasive
cardiac imaging modalities.
Our institution is also a high-volume ELSO Platinum Center of
Excellence for ECMO and has extensive experience managing all types
of pediatric ventricular assist devices, including the Berlin
EXCOR, HeartMate 3, Total Artificial Heart, and Impella.
As a PCICU Hospitalist, you will provide first-line care for
critically ill patients in collaboration with a multidisciplinary
team of intensivists, cardiologists, surgeons, and other
specialists.
Qualifications
Must have a MD or DO degree and an active NYS Medical License
Must be Board certification / or board Eligible in Pediatrics,
Pediatric Critical Care, or Pediatric Cardiology.
Consistently strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build
and sustain effective working relationships with professionals in
other disciplines.
The ability to create a high-energy results-oriented work
environment that encourages colleagues and staff to value each
other's contributions and the ability to share and celebrate
success with colleagues and staff.
