critical function in support of this goal and the ongoing evolution
of our technology and platform strategy: driving the implementation
of data capabilities that allow us to effectively scale alongside
our business and ensure that core data systems are positioned to
support the critical responsibility of enabling our platform and
partners. While this role is focused on hands-on implementation of
new and evolving capabilities to manage core operational data
systems with our platform at scale, it is also one that is expected
to innovate and evolve the related patterns and practices for data
management across the engineering organization.In addition to the
above, some specific success criteria in this role:
- Ability to guide engineering resources towards optimal models
of modern software engineering, incorporating quality and
time-to-market objectives pragmatically
- Leadership of software engineers to guide towards next
evolution of their career objectives, with consistent principles
and servant leader mindset
- Implementation of scalable operational data capabilities (ex:
OLTP) with pragmatic balance of cutting edge vs. 'tried-and-true'
technology frameworks
- Role model and influence a proactive approach to anticipating
challenges for team to intentionally navigate to optimal
outcomesWhat you'll do...
- Work in conjunction with engineering leadership to incorporate
strategic objectives and define work plans and resource
mobilization models for the team
- Ensure effective execution by self and team to achieve delivery
objectives
- Provide strategic input and influence with internal and
external stakeholders in the domain of healthcare and general data
systems management
- Mentor junior engineers in modern software engineering models
that focus on contract-first development, shift-left of design and
test functions, and distributed software development and release
collaboration models.
- Mentor engineers and stakeholders in the development and
deployment constraints and patterns for scalable data platform
servicesAbout you...
- 8+ years working in high-volume Healthcare data use cases
(Payer, Provider, Health services organization or similar)
- 10+ years in software development for moderate-to-large
organizations with mature information technology and software
engineering practices
- 5+ years working in software Director role, with management and
team leadership responsibilities
- Proven implementation experience and familiarity with variety
of core data systems (operational and analytical) and platforms
(PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Databricks)
- Experience with Big data analytics and stream processing (ex:
Spark, Flink)
- Experience with database administration and tuning (ex:
indexing, partitioning/sharding, etc.)
- Working experience with noSQL data systems and storage models
(Document, Columnar, Graph, Key-value, etc.)
- Experience with Python and associated data
transformation/datagram manipulation frameworks (Pandas, Polars),
and code management practices (git, gitflow and trunk-based
development, etc.)
- Implementation experience with Big Data and streaming
models(Kappa architectures) and associated technologies (ex:
Kafka)
- Deep knowledge of data ETL patterns and tool suites for
implementation (ex: DAG)
- Familiarity with data governance including data catalog/schema
conformance, master data management, etc.Please note: Progyny is

New York City's Wage Transparency Law, the annual salary [wage]
range for NYC-based applicants is: $175,000 - $185,000. There are a
variety of factors that go into determining a salary range,
