Communications Director, Policy at Scale AI, you will lead the
strategy and execution of our public policy communications efforts.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping and communicating Scale
AI's position on key policy issues impacting AI, the future of
flexible work, and technological innovation. In this role, you will
be responsible for managing both proactive and reactive
communications related to policy.The Communications Director,
Policy will work closely with the executive team, external
stakeholders, and public policy experts to enhance Scale AI and
Outlier's reputation as a leader in responsible AI development and
the future of flexible work. Your efforts will help drive the
company's mission to build a trustworthy AI ecosystem while
engaging with policymakers, regulators, and the media.You Will:
- Develop and execute communications strategies that elevate
Scale AI's position on policy issues, ensuring alignment with the
company's broader objectives and values.
- Lead the creation of messaging and content that communicates
Scale AI's policy stance to key audiences, including regulators,
government officials, industry groups, and the media.
- Serve as a key spokesperson for the company on policy matters,
responding to media inquiries and public policy debates.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, product, and
policy, to ensure all communications take a "one-team"
approach.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key influencers,
stakeholders, and advocacy groups to support Scale AI's policy
priorities.
- Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on
policy-related communications and reputation management.
- Monitor and track policy developments, providing timely updates
and strategic recommendations for communication responses.
- Manage crisis communications related to policy challenges,
ensuring the company's reputation is protected and its policy
objectives are advanced.Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in policy communications or public
affairs, with a strong track record of success in communications
leadership roles.
- Expertise in AI, technology, labor or related sectors, with
deep knowledge of the policy landscape around emerging
technologies.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic communications
plans, including messaging, media outreach, and crisis
management.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills,
with the ability to simplify complex policy issues for diverse
audiences.
- Strong relationship-building skills and experience engaging
with government officials, industry stakeholders, and media.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing
multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams and fostering
collaboration across departments.
- Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the intersection
between policy, public perception, and business
objectives.Compensation packages at Scale for eligible roles
include base salary, equity, and benefits. The range displayed on
each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new
hire salaries for the position, determined by work location and
additional factors, including job-related skills, experience,
interview performance, and relevant education or training. Scale
employees in eligible roles are also granted equity-based
compensation, subject to Board of Director approval. Your recruiter

salary range for this full-time position in the locations of San
