President, School Quality will play a critical role in EFF's effort
to ensure every high-impact charter school operating in
historically marginalized communities has a pathway to affordable
facilities. Reporting to the Chief Credit Officer, the Vice
President will implement and iterate on EFF's school quality
assessment methodology and ensure EFF invests its capital in
schools and leaders who are truly moving the needle for student
achievement. The Vice President, School Quality is a senior leader
responsible for shaping and overseeing EFF's school quality
methodology, conducting evaluations, and providing strategic
recommendations to ensure investments align with the organization's
mission of equity and impact. This role integrates thought
leadership, strategic vision, and organizational influence while
driving the development and management of academic covenants to
ensure portfolio success and sustainability. The ideal candidate
will have deep expertise in programmatic evaluation, a high bar for
excellence, and a willingness to "get under the hood" to discern
the full story behind school performance.Who You Are

throughout your career.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership
- Lead the continuous improvement of EFF's school quality
framework, incorporating best practices and innovative approaches
for evaluating academic, cultural, and operational
effectiveness.
- Develop and oversee academic covenant frameworks that align
borrower agreements with EFF's mission and financial
objectives.
- Partner with Credit and Legal teams to design innovative,
equity-focused covenant models that balance organizational goals
with borrower needs.Evaluation & Decision-Making
- Oversee the assessment of 25+ prospective borrowers annually,
synthesizing complex data and providing clear recommendations to
leadership and the Board.
- Conduct deep-dive evaluations for high-priority schools,
including site visits, focus group interviews, instructional
observations, and data analysis.
- Define decision-making criteria for diverse school models,
including early-phase and alternative programs.
- Lead discussions on covenant breaches, crafting intervention
strategies that are mission-aligned and sustainable.Covenant
Management and Risk Mitigation
- Define academic covenant compliance criteria and thresholds,
leveraging deep insights into school quality metrics to anticipate
and address potential risks.
- Develop processes for tracking covenant compliance and
analyzing portfolio trends.
- Provide strategic guidance on remediation plans for schools
that fail to meet covenant agreements.
- Manage consulting engagements that may be required of school
borrowers including approving selection, defining scope, and
ensuring implementation of recommendations.Thought Leadership
- Serve as EFF's expert on charter school quality, facilitating
professional development for internal teams and external
partners.
- Represent EFF at conferences, panels, and stakeholder meetings
to amplify organizational impact.
- Publish thought pieces or white papers that position EFF as a
leader in equity-centered school financing.Organizational
Leadership
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on strategic
decisions, shaping EFF's direction and priorities.
- Support cross-functional initiatives and serve as a mentor to
team members in underwriting and portfolio
management.Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional experience including 5+ years of
instructional coaching or programmatic evaluation. Leadership
experience with a charter school/CMO, grantor, and/or authorizer
preferred.
- Unyielding commitment to EFF's mission to ameliorate
educational, financial, and racial inequities.
- Demonstrated advocacy for diversity, equity, and inclusion in
workplace and investment practices.
- Expertise in analyzing academic data at school and LEA levels,
including state test results and NWEA MAP Growth data.
- Experience developing school evaluation frameworks involving a
mixed methods approach (quantitative and qualitative).
- Deep understanding of charter school seat growth strategies and
student recruitment/enrollment practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to think "outside
the box" and pivot as needed to support a growing business.
- Customer service orientation and ability to collaborate across
functional areas.
- High degree of integrity and authenticity.
- Willingness to travel 25-30% of time.The base salary range for
this position is $160,500 - $191,600, however we expect to bring
someone into this role at the midpoint to align with our
compensation practices. This position offers up to a 10% annual
bonus based on organizational performance. Compensation is
competitive, commensurate with experience, and may be subject to
modest adjustments for high-cost-of-living geographies. We are

match.LocationWe are open to applicants from across the continental
U.S. The role will be expected to travel to NYC or other locations
for 3+ days each month to participate in team activities.Reporting
