About UsEinstein-Montefiore is seeking an Operations Manager for the Gruss Magnetic Resonance Research Center (MRRC, Radiology). This person will also serve as the primary MRI physicist of the MRRC. Based on expertise and experience, the academic rank will be either research assistant professor or research associate professor.The MRRC houses a state-of-the-art Philips 3 Tesla MRI human scanner, a Bruker 7 Tesla MRI animal scanner, and a Siemens INVEON PET/SPECT/CT animal scanner. The MRRC currently supports 32 projects funded by $31.5 million of NIH grants. Projects span multiple disciplines including neurology/neuroscience, aging/dementia, cancer, cardiology, ophthalmology, MSK, and diabetes.Einstein is nationally recognized for breaking new ground in research, training the next generation of research leaders, and delivering science-driven, patient-centered care. Einstein is part of Montefiore Medicine, one of the largest health systems in the New York City metropolitan area that serves a large and diverse patient population.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities:
- Under the supervision of the MRRC Director, the Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining the MRI facility and running the day-to-day operation of the facility.
- Serve as the primary MRI physicist of MRRC.
- Train MRI technologists and research staff of the MRRC in the usage of the facility.
- Supervise MRI technologists.
- Maintain and upgrade the 3T Philips human MRI scanner, as well as the peripheral lab equipment, computers and software.
- Maintain research protocol compatibility when a scanner is upgraded.
- Install research pulse sequences from vendors or other research sites.
- Develop pulse sequences when needed.
- Provide MRI physics consultation.
- Actively seek opportunities for technological advancement of the center.
- Oversee monthly billing for services via iLab core facility management software.
- Review expenses and revenues with MRRC Administrator and report to the MRRC Director.
- Assist the lead data analyst in MRRC to support user data pipelines and access to data storage and computational resources.
- Work with the technologists to maintain an MRI safe environment for co-workers, research subjects and personnel.
- Support various aspects of research programs including submission reviews, compliance education, and project protocols.
- Ensure that investigators and key personnel complete required training.
- Monitor research subject care and ensure safety measures are met.
- Serve as the primary contact with users and external
organizations to understand research requirements and review
protocol implementation.QUALIFICATIONSQualifications: (1) PhD in MR
physics or engineering, (2) expertise in MR system hardware and
software usage, application and development on 3T Philips scanners,
and ideally on 7T Bruker scanners as well, (3) expertise in pulse
sequence development on 3T Philips scanner, and (4) at least three
years of experience in supporting MRI systems for research.Salary
range: $130k to $175k/year, compensated based on experience.Minimum
Salary RangeUSD $130,000.00/Yr.Maximum Salary RangeUSD
$175,000.00/Yr.
