Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Wound Care Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of medical/surgical experience with
wound and colostomy care License: New York State RN License with
Primary Source Verification Certifications: Current certification
in one of the following: - Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse
(CWOCN) - Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) - Certified Wound
Care Nurse (CWCN) - Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) - Wound Care
Certified Certification (WCC) Must-Have: Wound Care Certification,
proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing) Job
Description: - Conduct health assessment interviews focused on
wound, ostomy, and continence-related care. - Perform focused
physical assessments and develop care plans based on diagnosis and
client needs. - Recommend medications and treatments as
appropriate. - Develop, revise, and evaluate standards of care;
assist in the selection of supplies, technology, and equipment. -
Assess and document patient response to treatment for wounds,
ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wounds. - Evaluate the
quality of care delivered by the clinical staff. - Work
collaboratively with the healthcare team and make referrals to
other disciplines as needed. - Teach, counsel, and assist
individuals and families in preventing complications related to
wounds, ostomies, or continence issues. - Develop, provide, and
evaluate staff education programs, including new employee
orientation, in-services, and continuing education. - Perform
comprehensive assessments for patients at risk for developing
pressure injuries and initiate preventive measures. - Escalate and
communicate challenges, including ethical issues and conflict
resolution. - Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Nursing
for Wound Care to recommend best practices. - Participate in
quality improvement activities, including incidence and prevalence
studies. - Provide culturally competent education consistent with
patients' belief systems. - Maintain data security and
confidentiality according to patient rights policies. - Engage in
activities to achieve and maintain professional competency. -
Identify and facilitate the use of community resources beneficial
to clients. - Manage assets related to rented equipment, such as
specialty beds and negative pressure devices. - Handle an average
of 15 to 20 consults a day, with potential travel to patients'
