Job Description:
Position DescriptionThe Nurse Practitioner will be required to
do consults and follow-ups with hematology and oncology patients,
and oversee chemotherapy infusion, injection, and oral medication.
They will be expected to perform oncological procedures as needed.
This position requires the candidate be the provider working with
the practice nurse in overseeing clinical trials, research patients
and will participate in continuous quality improvement efforts.
This candidate will aid the physician in following the patient's
treatments, getting results, and working in a collaborative nature
with the primary medical oncologist to build the practice. Performs
administrative and clinical tasks to support the work of Med
Onc.Physician.Brief Description Of Duties
- Prepare patient charts for office and surgical patients
- Prepare exam rooms and check for expired supplies for breast
surgery
- Ensure patients are cleared for surgery
- Review radiology and pathology reports and discuss test results
with patients as directed by the surgeon
- Be willing to train and become certified in breast health
- Prescribe/order medications, lab tests, and imaging tests as
requiredPosition Qualifications
- NYS Licensed Nurse Practitioner
- 5+ years' experience in Medical Oncology
- AED Certification required
- Current BLS & ACLS provider certification from the American
Heart Association required
- Experience in a clinical setting preferred
- Clinical expertise and evaluation skills
- Medical Marijuana certification preferred, or willingness to
obtain
- Ability to effectively interrelate with all members of the
healthcare team
