$2,866 per week About The Position Job Title: Pediatric Intensive
Care Unit Clinical Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Pediatric Intensive
Care Unit (PICU) Job Duration: 13-week contract Shift: 7:00 PM -
7:30 AM (3x12-hour shifts plus a 4th shift required per month on
every other weekend) Guaranteed Hours: 34.5 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of pediatric intensive care
experience in a hospital setting License: Registered Nurse with
current registration in New York State Certifications: Basic Life
Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Must-Have:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), pediatric experience Job
Description: - Deliver patient care by incorporating the tenets of
the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care. -
Apply the nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based
practice, and approved organizational nursing standards. - Assess
and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills
in patient care management. - Integrate relevant assessment and
intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. - Collaborate
with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop, implement,
and evaluate the plan of care. - Prioritize all aspects of patient
care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, planning for "after
hospital care," and delegating to others as appropriate. - Educate
patients and caregivers while anticipating needs and readiness to
learn about their plan of care, transition of care, health
promotion, and disease prevention. - Communicate effectively and
professionally with patients, their families, and all members of
the interdisciplinary patient care team. - Manage assignments
within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing and
demonstrate effective allocation of material resources. - Role
model the tenets of Relationship Centered Care through various
patient care activities, such as Admission Welcome and Bedside
Shift Reports. - Consider patients' values, preferences, cultural
diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in all aspects of care. -
Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and
their families. - Use evidence-based practices to enhance patients'
perceptions of care. - Support staff use of evidence-based
practices to improve patient care experiences. - Conduct Purposeful
Hourly Rounding (PHR) on assigned patients, addressing key
concerns. - Practice safe and efficient patient-centered care,
identifying and addressing barriers and opportunities for
improvement. - Demonstrate clinical skills and knowledge crucial to
quality and safety in pediatric care. - Engage in formal and
informal peer and institutional review processes. - Collaborate
with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality
improvement projects, evidence-based practice activities, and
nursing research studies. - Contribute to quality and safety
practices and comply with required measures. - Utilize
institutional information technology to document nursing practice
and support quality and performance improvement initiatives.
