Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Database
Developer with 7+ years of experience to develop and maintain
systems that store, organize, and provide secure access to data.
This highly technical role blends software engineering, data
architecture, and programming to support organizational data needs
across applications and business functions. The ideal candidate has
deep knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2014/2016/2019), SQL Server
Data Tools, SSRS, Power BI, and Visual Studio.

This role involves end-to-end ownership of application development
and support, including planning, design, coding, testing,
configuration, deployment, performance tuning, and security.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, develop, and maintain SQL databases for a variety of
enterprise applications and business use cases.
Write, optimize, and debug complex SQL queries, stored procedures,
functions, views, and triggers to ensure high-performance data
access and manipulation.
Utilize Microsoft Visual Studio and SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) to
create and manage database projects and deployment packages.
Develop and publish interactive and insightful Power BI dashboards
and reports to meet business intelligence and analytics needs.
Design and maintain SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports
for operational and executive reporting.
Conduct data modeling, normalization, and performance tuning for
large-scale database systems.
Collaborate with data architects, analysts, developers, and
business stakeholders to gather and refine requirements.
Implement and monitor database backup strategies, indexing, and
data integrity checks to ensure high availability and data
reliability.
Perform regular audits, data quality checks, and security
assessments to safeguard sensitive information and comply with
organizational standards.
Assist in data migration and transformation processes across
systems and platforms.
Document technical processes, database structures, and system
configurations for support and scalability.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or
related field.
7+ years of professional experience in database development and
data management.
Expertise in: Microsoft SQL Server 2014/2016/2019, SQL Server
Management Studio (SSMS) and SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT),
Microsoft Visual Studio for database project development, SQL
Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI for data
visualization.
Strong knowledge of data modeling, database performance tuning, and
T-SQL optimization.
Experience with data security, access controls, and audit
compliance.
Ability to perform full database lifecycle tasks-from analysis and
design to implementation and support.
Excellent analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to translate
technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Experience with ETL tools such as SSIS or Azure Data Factory
Knowledge of cloud database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL Database,
AWS RDS)
Familiarity with DevOps practices and version control systems like
Git
Microsoft certifications in SQL Server or Power BI are a plus
Experience working in large-scale public sector or education
environments, especially NYC DOE
