Job Description:
Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and motivated
Associate Attorney with a strong interest in real estate and tax
law to join our Tax Certiorari practice. The ideal candidate will
possess excellent writing and analytical skills, along with
experience in litigation or administrative appeals. This is a
unique opportunity to work alongside seasoned attorneys on
high-profile property tax matters within one of New York City's
largest and most respected Tax Certiorari practices. A key benefit
of this position is that our Tax Certiorari practice operates on a
contingency fee basis rather than hourly billing. As a result,
attorneys are relieved of the constraints and reporting
requirements of the traditional billable hour, allowing for greater
focus on substantive legal work, case outcomes, and client
advocacy. In addition, attorneys in our practice gain valuable
exposure to the New York City real estate market, including the
valuation of real estate assets and the analysis of investment
opportunities. This unique intersection of law and real estate
provides a meaningful educational experience that enhances both
legal and business acumen, making this role especially rewarding
for those with an interest in the real estate industry. Key
Responsibilities: Administrative Appeals and Litigation Represent
clients in administrative hearings and court proceedings, including
the New York City Tax Commission and the New York Supreme Court.
Conduct legal research and advise attorneys and clients on relevant

valuation analyses for administrative filings and court
proceedings. Analyze and interpret property tax assessments, market
data, historical property performance, and other evidence relevant
to cases. Draft detailed legal memoranda, affirmations, affidavits,
and notices in support of tax appeals and other related matters.
Assist in settlement negotiations and monitor implementation of
settlements to ensure timely and accurate execution. Review files
for preliminary court conferences and attorney settlement
conferences, and prepare cases for trial. Client Interaction &
Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients,
providing updates on case progress and advising on next steps.
Respond to client inquiries and ensure their concerns are addressed
promptly. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients,
municipal agencies, and other stakeholders involved in the tax
certiorari process. Manage and ensure compliance with applicable
legal standards, court rules, and professional regulations as well
as deadlines for filing administrative requests and legal
documents. Collaborative Case Strategy & Team Support: Work closely
with senior attorneys to develop case strategies, legal theories,
and procedural approaches. Collaborate with team members to ensure
seamless case management and smooth workflow in complex litigation
matters. Qualifications: Education & Experience: Juris Doctor (JD)
degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the New York
State Bar (or eligibility to waive in). Minimum of 2 years of
experience in litigation; experience in property tax law,
administrative appeals, or business valuation is a plus. Skills &
Abilities: Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability
to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to clients.
Detail-oriented with a strong ability to prioritize tasks and
manage multiple cases simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft
Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal research tools (e.g.,
Westlaw, LexisNexis). Knowledge of New York City property tax laws,
regulations, and tax certiorari procedures is a plus. Employment
