• Employment Type: TravelDuties: Job Summary: -Performs radiologic treatments for patients.Responsible for pre-treatment services and delivery of radiologic treatment. - Primary Responsibilities: -Treatment of patients:-Arrange treatment appointments.-Deliver radiation to patients in accordance with physician's instructions.-Operate all types of radiotherapy equipment, i.e., Cobalt Therapy Unit, Linear Accelerator, Simulator, etc. Pre-Treatment Preparation:-Operate simulator for localization of tumor size and position.-Takes contours and collects all physical factors for treatment plans.-Perform dosimetry for treatment plans.-Take photographs of patients for portal verifications, etc. Patient Care Activities:-Recognize all types of radiation reactions and provides the proper care and instructions to patients.-Educate patients with respect to radiation therapy reactions and also life style modifications.-Instruct incoming Residents and technologists in the use of equipment.-Prepare cerrobend alloy blocks. Fabricate plastic holders for blocks.-Construct and fabricate patient immobilization devices.-Take and develop radiographs.-Maintain patient management room neat and orderly.-Coordinate department with inpatient activities to provide proper patient care. -When necessary, transports inpatients.-Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of radiation therapy equipment. --Perform other related duties as assigned.
  
  Skills: Required Skills & Experience:-Knowledge of radiologic equipment in use at BHMC.-Good patient interpersonal skills.-Ability to read and speak English.-Ability to fully utilize BHMC's electronic record systems, equipment, and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position. Preferred Skills & Experience:-No prior experience required, preference for 6 months to one-year x-ray or radiologic experience. Physical Requirements: --Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.-Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing or exerting force up to 75 pounds.
  
  Education: Required Education:-High School diploma or equivalent.-Graduate of accredited radiologic program. Preferred Education:-N/A Required Certifications & Licensure:-Current NY State License for X-Ray technology.-Certification in the operation of Radiologic equipment and treatment required.-ARRT Certification Preferred Certifications & Licensure:-N/A - - -
  
  Schedule Notes: 11:45pm-8:00AM to cover overnight Monday into Tuesday , Thursday into Friday and Friday into Saturday
