candidates.Scope of Work:The Newcomer Youth Summer Academy (NYSA)
is a six-week program that prepares newly arrived refugee youth to
succeed at their grade level in the New York City public school
system. Up to 130 students from ages 5 - 21 from over 20 countries
will participate in academic, creative arts, social-emotional
learning, physical education, field trips and life skills
classes.The IRC is seeking a Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
Teacher to create and implement social emotional learning
curriculum for Upper School (Grades 6-12). The Social Emotional
Learning Teacher will instruct up to 6 lessons each week. The SEL
classes will be held between 12:00 pm and 2:40 pm, Monday -
Thursday. The SEL Teacher will also help facilitate run
after-school classes from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm, Monday -
Thursday.Following pre-program training, the SEL Teacher will be
expected to understand how their contributions fit into the larger
Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) model for supporting
students at the Academy and liaise with other professionals
accordingly, especially the classroom teaching staff and the
Student Support Team.Position term:June 16, 2025 - August 15,
2025Pre-program Planning: Between June 16 and July 1 - Up to 10
hours of lesson planning and instructional planning with Dean of
Instruction and asynchronous foundational online training modules
to be completed independently ahead of synchronous staff training
datesIn-person Training: July 1, 2025 - July 3, 2025: Up to 24
hours of trainingMain Program: July 7, 2025 - August 15, 2025: up
to 2.5 hours of instruction, supervision with dismissals, and
running 1.5 hours of afterschool programs for a total of 5.25 hours
per day, Monday - Thursday.Major Responsibilities:
