We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer specializing in roadway projects to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing roadway construction and working with the New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC). This role requires ensuring compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and contractual requirements while effectively managing project teams, stakeholders, and resources.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for the supervision and performance of the work on assigned contracts.


Review and coordinate daily work schedules with the contractors.


Meet regularly to identify and resolve project-related issues.


Review and evaluate contractors' proposed progress schedules.


Monitor contractors' conformance and ensure compliance with project requirements.


Recommend corrective action should a deviation occur.


Manage and supervise all aspects of roadway construction projects from inception to completion.


Coordinate and oversee construction activities on-site, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and schedules.


Monitor project progress and performance against established benchmarks and milestones.


Conduct regular inspections and quality control checks to verify compliance with design drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.


Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants involved in the project.


Review and approve contractor/subcontractor work plans, method statements, and materials.


Address and resolve technical issues, conflicts, and challenges that arise during construction.


Prepare and review project documentation, including progress reports, daily logs, and change orders.


Communicate project status updates, issues, and resolutions to stakeholders, including clients, engineers, and government agencies.


Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the project lifecycle.





Required Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.


Professional Engineer (PE) license required.


Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in managing roadway construction projects.


Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques used in roadway projects.


Experience working on DDC projects, ensuring compliance with their requirements and processes.


Proven leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.


Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.


Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Primavera, Microsoft Project).


Ability to analyze complex technical information and make informed decisions.


Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and standards (e.g., AASHTO, ASTM, DOT).



Work Environment:

Typically works on-site at construction projects, which may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions and construction hazards.


May require travel to different project locations and occasional evening or weekend work to meet project deadlines.





Salary: 85$-95$ per hour
