In this role, you will be responsible for (1) Forecasting and Business Insights, (2) SEC reporting and (3) ad hoc projects. You communicate clearly and are able to successfully juggle multiple priorities and complete assignments in a fast-paced environment. You embody a strong team-first attitude, are responsive, adapt quickly to change, embrace challenges, and champion the advancement of financial planning tools, systems, controls, and analyses. You will translate this hard work into outputs that will enhance Senior Management and Board-Level decision making and further Etsy's mission to re-imagine commerce in ways that build a more fulfilling and lasting world.This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Finance. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.This role requires your presence in Etsy's Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. • Lead a team of two Data Analysts responsible for Forecasting and Business Insights and SEC reporting.
• Forecasting and Business Insights: own our Gross Merchandise Sales forecast and lead investigations into business and competitor trends.
• SEC Reporting: provide analytics support to our Accounting and Investor Relations teams as a part of our quarterly earnings process (SEC filings, earnings presentations, etc).
• Ad Hoc Projects: provide support across the Finance Organization, helping to dig deeper into special projects and ad hoc requests.
• Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.The Strategic Finance Director will demonstrate:
  • 10+ years of finance experience, including experience in financial planning and business analysis and managing direct reports.
  • Proficient in SQL and either R or Python. Bonus points for experience with BigQuery, GCP, and/or analytics in cloud environments.
  • Significant experience with forecasting, including data-driven time series modeling techniques (e.g. ARIMA, exponential smoothing, time series decomposition).
  • Experience with Looker, Tableau, or other data visualization software.
  • Expert experience in financial modeling, Google docs, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Previous participation in the budgeting and forecasting process at a company of similar or larger size to Etsy and thrives in a continuous planning environment.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office (Excel in particular).
