As an Early Career Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Attorney, you'll handle fraud related examinations under oath, no fault, lawsuits, arbitrations and/or trials. You'll provide vital counsel to Allstate claims partners and coordinate between legal teams. Stay ahead of the game by monitoring new laws and regulations, ensuring our strategies remain sharp. • Conduct special investigation unit examinations under oath and prepare reports
• Contacts clients to discuss their case and answer any questions
• Review new file assignments, all documentary evidence and approve initial pleadings, propounds discovery, and develop strategy
• Investigate and pursue subrogation litigation, as appropriate
• Conduct settlements/dispositive proceedings (e.g., mediations, arbitrations, etc.)
• Prepare and conduct court appearances (matter management conferences, hearings, status conferences, etc.)
• Conduct depositions and examinations under oath and prepares summary documents
• Prepares witnesses and clients for depositions, arbitrations, mediations, and trials including expert witnesses
• Try and/or arbitrate cases and prepares motions and summary documents in liminie
• Keep claim business partners updated on status (initial client contact, initial litigation plan, recurring contacts, strategy conferences, and pre-trial, etc.Education
  • Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar.Minimum Requirements
    • Successful completion of courses focused on legal research, writing, and analysis, demonstrating the ability to conduct thorough legal research and draft clear, well-structured legal documents.
    • Demonstrates strong time management skills, effectively balancing multiple tasks and deadlines.
    • Capable of organizing case files, managing legal documents, and understanding the discovery process.
    • Skilled in communicating with clients, preparing summaries, and maintaining records of interactions.
    • Well-versed in legal ethics and the standards of professional conduct.
    • Equipped with fundamental negotiation techniques and strategies for client interactions and settlement discussions.
