this journey.Senior Technology Manager, New York CityConvene is
seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior AV Technology Manager to
join the opening team at 30 Hudson Yards. This is an exciting
opportunity to be a key player in the launch of one of Convene's
premier event spaces. The Senior Technology Manager will report
directly to the property's General Manager and our Regional AV
Manager.Spanning 72,000 square feet on the 24th floor of 30 Hudson
Yards, this Convene location offers ten uniquely designed event
spaces, including a grand hall with a capacity for 750+ guests. The
venue can also accommodate full buyouts for up to nearly 1,500
guests.What You'll Do:The Senior Technology Manager is responsible
for the oversight and management of all information technology
services for clients and employees, including networking, desktop
support, audio, video, HSIA, audio & video conferencing,
webcasting, and advanced rigging best practices, and large scale
event logistics. They ensure exceptional experiences for all
meetings, conferences, and work-related technology needs by working
closely with clients and collaborating with Sales, Operations, and
Production team members. Additionally, the Senior Technology
Manager will supervise Technology Managers, AV Supervisors, AV
Operations Specialists, and other AV personnel providing guidance,
training, and support for their personal, technical, and overall
career development. The Senior Technology Manager embodies and
upholds Convene's cultural standards. They are a proactive
problem-solver, ready to take on additional tasks and challenges as
they arise, all while maintaining a professional
demeanor.Operations Management:
- Manage and delegate tasks to a team of Technology Managers, AV
Supervisors, AV Operations Specialists, and other specialized AV
members across this dedicated location
- Manage and ensure performance goals are met for all team
members
- Provide guidance and troubleshooting for junior team members
and clients
- Manage physical assets and inventory
- Manage and troubleshoot AV equipment, including audio, video,
lighting, and computer networking systems
- Evaluate and troubleshoot personal computers, mobile devices,
and network components
- Coordinate with clients to ensure their technology needs are
met
- Coordinate load in and load out logistics and schedules
- Provide consultative technology sales for client programs and
review all pre-contracted technology with clients during the
planning process
- Ensure that booking guidelines are followed and that all
leaders are maximizing space and revenue
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain positive
relationships with Convene team members, divisions, and
vendors
- Attend PEO, Pre-Con, and pre-production meetings as needed
- Direct day-to-day floor operations, including set and strike,
and scheduling of internal and external personnel
- Create weekly schedules for Technology Specialists and
coordinate with other locations to share resources
- Maintain positive relationships with clients and assist with
any reasonable requests during programs
- Interact with Relationship Sales Managers to understand client
experience with Convene
- Prepare and follow-up on sales quotes using revenue
maximization techniques
- Assist in any area of daily operationTraining & Development:
- Assist with developing a healthy employee relations climate,
including employee motivation and coaching
- Participate in collaborative project efforts with other
departments
- Cross-train in other conference center related areas
- Participate in employee performance reviews
- Mentor Technology Specialists to ensure consistent customer
service
- Interview, hire, and train candidates for open positions within
the AV department
- Stay current on industry trends through benchmarking, trade
publications, competitive shopping, and conferences
- Review and update departmental SOPs quarterlyFinancial
Responsibilities:
- Weekly financial reporting of client programs, including labor
hours/dollar amounts, and other departmental expenses
- Review and ensure accuracy of P&L/General Ledger
reports
- Timely approval and submission of vendor invoices to Accounts
Payable
- Participate in annual budgeting process
- Complete weekly/monthly status reportsWhat We Look For:
- High school diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree
preferred
- CTS or comparable industry certification preferred
- 9+ years' experience managing IT/AV equipment & computer
software systems
- Experience leading team members across multiple locations
- Customer service and/or hospitality experience
- Extensive knowledge of AV equipment (e.g., analog/digital audio
mixers, wireless microphone systems, seamless video switchers, and
projectors/displays)
- Understanding of Crestron control and hardware endpoints
- Basic knowledge of data networking principles, architecture,
and applications
- Experience installing, configuring, operating, and
administering operating systems, applications, and hardware for
Macs, PCs, LANs, and servers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Apple iWorks
- Ability to lead and manage team members while working
effectively with internal and external clients
- Experience with CRM applications
- Flexible schedule; long and weekend hours often required
- Ability to lift 25 pounds and climb a ladder
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods, and reach
overhead and below the kneesEquipment & Technical Qualifications:
- Audio: 4-48 channel analog/digital mixers, wireless microphone
lavaliers and handhelds, push to talk microphone systems, audio
recorders, Dante audio network best practices, Biamp DSPs, and
Acoustic reinforcement best practices
- Video: Switchers, projectors, LCD displays, Crestron DM/NVX
systems, large format switchers comparable to Aquilon CMAx, Barco
E2/E3, Ross, Grass Valley
- Lighting: Up lights, GOBOs, DMX addressing, lighting console
programming including, but not limited to, cues/universes/scenesIT:
Wi-Fi troubleshooting, connecting hardline internet, Knowledge of
DHCP/Static IP addressing, operate and trouble shoot hard/soft
video codecs, other collaboration tools and equipment
- Control: Familiarity with Crestron control systems and
